IRON BENEFITS

LIGHTWEIGHT

One of the main drawbacks of cast iron is its weight. The Summit Iron Wok has many of the same benefits of cast iron but is much lighter making it easier to carry while cooking. Summit has found the best thickness of iron for the perfect balance between lightweight and heat conductivity to retain the best attributes of cast iron without the weight.

NATURALLY NONSTICK

Summit Iron Wok are nonstick without the use of synthetic chemical-treated surfaces. Create a natural nonstick barrier by seasoning the pan with oil.

LOW MAINTENANCE

Once a Iron Wok is properly seasoned, it is easy to maintain the naturally nonstick surface. After each use, simply wipe the surface clean and reapply a thin layer of oil before storage.

DURABLE

Like cast iron cookware, carbon steel is meant to last. Carbon steel cookware gets better with age and use. Regular usage of carbon steel ensures the building up of the nonstick surface.

ABOUT MANUFACTURER

Summit Kogyo is an iron kitchenware manufacturing specialist located in Tsubame Sanjo, a famous metalworking city, in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. Summit has been in business for over 70 years creating these durable products using the time-tested techniques of their metalworking craftsmen. Summit's Iron Pan is constructed with a thick bottom and thinner sides creating uniform heat conduction, good heat retention, and lightweight enough for easy everyday use. This is the most balanced cookware perfect for home cooks and is sure to become a staple in your kitchen.

BEFORE FIRST USE

This iron pan has been coated with a clear silicone coating to prevent pans from rusting before purchase. It has to be burnt off the coating before use. The coating is not harmful even though it remains on the pan while cooking. While burning off the coating, smoke will incur, so please turn the ventilation on.

Here are the steps to follow to properly season your wok:

1. Dry your wok completely with a towel, then place it on the stove over high heat.

2. Add a small amount of oil to the wok and swirl it around to coat the entire surface.

3. You can use any high-smoke-point oil like vegetable oil, canola oil, or grapeseed oil.

4. Use a paper towel or cloth to spread the oil around the surface of the wok, making sure to cover the entire inside and bottom.

5. Heat the wok over medium-high heat until it starts to smoke again.

6. Turn the heat off and let the wok cool down. Once it's cool enough to touch, use a paper towel or cloth to wipe off any excess oil.

7. Repeat the process of heating the wok, adding oil, and wiping it down a few more times until the wok has a nice dark patina.

8. Once your wok is seasoned, you can start using it to cook delicious stir-fries, fried rice, and other Asian dishes. Remember to keep it well-oiled to prevent rust and maintain its non-stick surface.

MAINTENANCE

Maintaining your wok is crucial to keeping it in top shape for years to come. Proper maintenance will not only help your wok retain its non-stick surface, but also prevent rusting and damage. Here are the maintenance steps to follow:

1.Clean your wok after every use: To clean your wok, rinse it with hot water and use a soft sponge or brush to gently scrub away any food residue. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the seasoning.

2.Dry your wok completely: After washing, dry your wok with a towel or paper towel. Place it on the stove over low heat for a few minutes to ensure it's completely dry.

3.Store your Wok properly: Store your wok in a cool, dry place. Avoid stacking it with other pots and pans, as this can cause scratches and damage the seasoning.

4.Re-season your wok as needed: Over time, the seasoning on your wok may wear off or become damaged. When this happens, you'll need to re-season it to restore its non-stick surface.

5.Keep your wok oiled: To prevent rust and maintain the non-stick surface, keep your wok well-oiled. After cleaning, add a thin layer of oil to the surface and use a paper towel or cloth to spread it around.
