Despite our youthful appearance Bensons Trading was founded in 1947 by William Benson Atkinson. A tall man with an even bigger mission to bring joy into the homes of everyday Australians. What started out as a Rocking Horse and Kitchen Gadget Business soon turned to showbags when William discovered the popularity of the concept during the Great Depression where paper bags were filled with everything from boot polish to canned meat and were given away at shows to promote local businesses. After William passed away in 1968 his wife Muriel took over the business and that is when the showbag craze exploded across the country. The rest (they say) is history. Over the years the business has grown into a behemoth of the showbag and amusement industry with long standing relationships forged with the worlds most popular brands such as Cadbury, Mattel, NRL, and so many more.
